After my first year of college I was working on a construction site when my supervisor asked about my post graduation plans.
I responded honestly that I didn’t know yet.
He briefly paused, looked at me and said;
“Yes you do. You want to make things.”

I’ve never identified as a “maker”, it’s just what I do, both personally and professionally. Shortly after graduation, and not long after I was beginning my career as an Architectural Designer I happened upon a derelict property that desperately needed rehabilitation. So I bought it. That lead to spending the next three years working nights and weekends to bring it back to, and beyond, it’s former glory.

In many respects that was the beginning of the process of improving, fixing and creating houses for both myself and others, something that continues daily for me.

I am constantly trying to find ways to improve myself through education, discussion, and practice, and am ever attempting to keep up with technologies and advances in building science.

In my spare time I strive to make the world a better and more beautiful place through photography, sculpture, furniture making, and various other creative pursuits. I am also fascinated with computer science, in particular advances in portable hardware and automation.

Sometimes creativity is a compulsion, not an ambition.
